A simple, but very creative and effective exercise, creating tone and form using a few different mediums and techniques to mark the page. We were asked to choose 6 or more objects to arrange in a still life, some regular shapes and some more irregular. I put together a bucket, shoe,jam jar, paint brushes, pair of glasses and a rope. Experimenting with making marks using alternative resources proved a very interesting subject. Using objects such as sponges, feathers, sheep’s wool and salt created a fantastic scope for layering up texture, especially when it came to painting nature.
